Morning Roundup
Dubya reportedly has no plans to watch W., but after seeing this trailer for the new Oliver Stone film, you gotta wonder if anybody will have plans to watch this flick:

Trib's Gedalius join Castor congressional office
Tampa Tribune City Hall reporter Ellen Gedalius is leaving 200 S Parker for the warm and comfy confines of politics. Ironically, she replaces Agustina Guerrero, who left for PricewaterhouseCoopers, the destination for nearly a dozen other Trib scribes.
Here's the Castor news release:
U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor (D-FL) announced today that Tampa Tribune journalist Ellen Gedalius will [...]

Mamma Mia! is ABBA-licious
Because of my mad ABBA love, CL Events Editor Leilani Polk helped me procure free tickets to last night's opening of Mamma Mia! at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.
I was duly excited to hear the classics I'd grown to love both as a child and in my adulthood via the stellar CD ABBA Gold: [...]

The Wine Spectulator Rides Again
For years I've suspected the uber snooty, elitist-driven Wine Spectator Magazine of nefarious and economic-driven activities, with great wine reviews ("95 points! Stellar!") mere pages away from the same winery's glorious, full page ad spread. But those exceptional write ups have never been proven purchased... but this scandal is almost juicier. Robin Goldstein, writer and [...]

Maybe sex shouldn't involve... talking
Not that long ago I made a poor decision. OK, twenty minutes ago I made a poor decision involving half a box of cereal at midnight... but this particular bad decision involved a man (or a really good man-impressionist), a woman (or the part of me that pretends to be a grown adult) and a [...]

Jack White on new James Bond theme song
When the news hit that Jack White and Alicia Keys (pictured) were teaming for the new James Bond theme song, "Another Way to Die," which I blogged about here, everyone at CL headquarters decided it will either be absolute brilliance or an utter turd. Perhaps sensing trepidation from his fan base, White has offered a [...]

Billy Corgan has lost his mind
I gave up on the Smashing Pumpkins long ago. Within a year or so of the release of Siamese Dream, I was done. They just didn't do it for me anymore. In recent years, since Billy Corgan decided to revive the Pumpkins, it's seemed at times that he's lost his mind. Remember that full page [...]

Brewery Spotlight: Oskar Blues
This week, we're taking another look at a specific brewery - Oskar Blues, out of Colorado. Oskar Blues' beer just arrived here in Nashville, and we're very excited to see it in town. As one of the pioneer craft breweries who cans their beer, Oskar Blues is making major headway in proving that just because beer is in a can doesn't mean it's not world-class. Listen in this week as we try all three of Oskar Blues' year-round offerings and give you our thoughts on what this brewery is doing. Got a favorite beer from your region? Send it our way and we'll try it on the show! Email us at podcast [at] davisondraft [dot] com. Sampled this week: Oskar Blues: Dale's Pale Ale, Old Chub and Gordon.

Brewery Spotlight: Unibroue
This week, we're concentrating on another brewery for the entire show: Unibroue. We've had one of their beers before on the show (Don De Dieu), but this week we check out three of their offerings. Unibroue is a Belgian-style brewer out of Canada, and they've got quite a line of beers - most all of which are Belgian influenced. Can a Canadian brewer pull off Belgian styles? Listen this week and see what we think! Plus, learn how to say all the crazy names of Unibroue's beers (they're not pronouced how you think!). Got a favorite beer from your region? Send it our way and we'll try it on the show! Email us at podcast [at] davisondraft [dot] com. Sampled this week: Unibroue: Maudite, La Fin Du Monde and Trois Pistoles.
